They treat patients very badly and you hear constant complaints from hospital employees about cutting costs and hours at the patients expense. CEO's only care about their bonus, even at the expense/sometimes death of people in their own hospitals because their insurance ran out of funding. So because the hospital is not getting anymore money and can't legally let the patient die, they will just treat you with as little attention/respect until you do die and stop costing Select Medical money. Even though they chose to admit them based on their insurance that they already checked, unless they had a bad Admissions Coordinator (which happens because they are cheap all around except for higher-ups). Look up the news article from a few years ago about a Select Medical hospital in Kentucky that let patients bed pans build up for days (and it isn't the only example from their hospitals). That hospital may have gotten a little better now but I can guarantee I would not send my own family member to any of their hospitals unless I had too. I know of a CEO who was struggling to make budget but actually treated patients and workers with respect. That CEO was fired after over 10+ years and worked their way up to earn the position unlike most in the company. My advice if you work their, use it as a stepping stone and never send a family member to their hospital.
