Complaint Review: Seminole Oaks Formerly Cash Hall

I have formerly been a resident of the property once known as Cash Hall for three years. When I first came to the property I was a freshman out of options for housing fooled by a brochure.

As a former tenant of low income housing (the worst) I expected more out of Cash. What I got was a look alike that reminded me of what people call the projects. It was a mess.... but I grew used to the broken elevators that made me climb four flights every day... the same old nasty food everyday (actually I ate a Denny's when I could). The late mail. Friends made it better.

Second year, no car no license and my mom urges me to stay there yet again... this time hopefully the apartments will be better. This year my sibling joined me. Being clean folks that weare our aprtment was spotless... but after a couple of hours of sitting on a none to cute sofa ( matched with a mud laden chair) we were itching... After repeatedly requesting fumigation someone sprays our sofa... which just runs the fleas into the carpet :( (we are allergic to pets but the was a home across the fence that had a dog and workers usually left furniture sitting outside) We SUFFERED the attack of the fleas until I myself went out and brought a fogger... shut off and unplugged everything... turned off the gas and fired that baby up. Life is better without the fleas although my sibling has scars from the battle.

That year I hardly ate in the cafe as I was always working at this time I am working three jobs and time spent home is very short. Third year... this is the worst... the washing machines aren't working... your clothes go in and come out asdirty as they go in... mail is getting missing... comes in preopened, there is a big pit dug outside my door, my hot water comes in brown with mud, and on top of this.... my financial aid has been cut! I make a visit to the front office where I am told.... that I can not get out of my lease.. the property is so empty that of course I am not going to be able to find a sublease, nor will the property help me with a sublease as the manager put it. I am threatened that it can go on my credit report.... but I can not pay..I have my school to worry about and I am down to a job and a half.

This is where the fun begins... I move to a friends I no longer want to see the property, have not eaten in the cafe in 3-4 months and I am sick of Cash. I will still try and save the money to pay of the remaining bill but I do not wish to remain on the property because I can not afford it. My sibling with her greater amount of financial aid can. Not my fault... I have bills my sib doesn't.

To make a longer story short... the manager, Carol Metcalf... a woman I think needs to learn business etiquette... takes it upon herself to shut off my meal plan which no matter what I am still paying for... a month before the end of my less I move back... the semester is winding down and I have a lil money to pay my bill at least a piece. :)

Before going to the rent office I want to get something to eat... I have no money but this meal plan is basically paid for by me so that I can eat. I get my food and before I get a bite am told that I have to go to the rent office and can get my food later(which I don't). Carol stands in her office door and yells for the world to hear, that I am trying to cheat her out of her money... that I am trying to not pay my rent... I can't believe it this woman is standing in her office doorway not respecting me because she has just put confidentiality on the line... and she tells me that I better contact her about a plan to pay the money... she even says she'll take off my meal plan... which ( she already has cut off so why should I pay for not eating?) and some other gibberish about a deal. Yeah right.

At this time Cash Hall had already taken on the name Seminole Oaks...workers were working night and day to tear down walls, that's the majority of the renov... not really any pipe changes. They start at seven am and I get off work at 8am ... see the problem? Anyway... I make plans to pay Ms. Carol Metcalf 20% of every check I recieve... which isa look because not only am I apartment hunting but I have bills to pay as said above... in 6 months my bill would have been cleared. First check... went over well... Next check... not so well... I wait a week for Ms. Metcalf to cash it... (money is precious and my account stays near $0) after a week I put a stop on the check because I have to make a payment in a weekand if she cashes both my account goes over... but she still hasn't cashed the first one.. Finally move out date.. Ms. Metcalf rushes to my aprtment to inquire as to where "Her Money" is but only my friend is there. Why hasshe waitedawhole month to Cash a check... college students never keep money in their accounts.. she should know that.

Right now I am looking at a deposit disposition that is a lil fishy to me because the charges on here are not at all near the last official standing of my account with Seminole Oaks/ Cash Hall. My move in date islisted as 2/12/2003 when I actually moved in 8/02 for this years stay. There are two late charge fees assessed the same day in the amount of $75, also on the same day a payment was made.

At this point I am thinking of making this a legal matter because I was told I could not recieve any printouts of information held on me in the computer.. I'm sure my lease copies with the company my turn up missing or altered but I have my own copies. I have send emails to the company (I have no phone right now) trying to reach them with my questions on how they are handling outstanding balances but I have recieved no answer. Right now I feel this woman may be trying to get me for what little I have because I have recieved only mail from her, no one above her has sent anything. She waves the "Credit Bureau" card as away of trying to get me to give her checks... She said she would hold my mail. Why? She repeatedly hassaid ... "Give me my money, when are you going to pay me my money... ,etc." She has tried to make several deals to lessen the amount I would have to pay but when she found out that the check was stopped suddenly I recieve a bill with extra charges thrown in here and there... why? And lastly, this disposition looks funny and it appears as if she just entered me into the Seminole Oaks books on her own.

Please if someone can give me advice on whether or not I can make this legal. I wouldappreciate it. :)
