My wife and I are in our late 70's. and we feel that we are being taken advantage of.

The local franchise of ServPro, ServPro of Society Hill,  was sent by State Farm Ins Co. to "clean up" following a smoke incident in my condo.

While in the process of cleaning the wood parquet floor in the hallway, ServPro used a water based cleaner which caused the tiles to buckle/warp. My wife saw the application. Their worker, John, denied it. My wife was sure was the same machine they used to clean the carpets.

The ServPro franchisee, Mr Charles Doyle came to my condo. He would not concede the obvious problem saying there were no scratches on the floor. I was told by a floor person that there probably would be no scratches if the floor was wet.

I had asked for help from our local ABC-TV consumer help line. Doyle submitted pictures to them. They reported that the pictures did not "show" the obvious buckling problem. That is almost impossible unless the pictures were taken in such a way to de-emphasize the problem. Doyle admitted some tiles "popped" and creaked when stepped on. 6-ABC TV would not release the pictures to me to compare them with the original pictures in his camera.

These tiles have buckled enough to cause an unsafe situation. Why did Doyle state that the parquet tiles were glued to the floor? They aren't now!

Doyle also made a point to refer to tiny markings in front of the door to my clothes washer. These marks were possibly caused by tiny detergent droplets. What did that have to do with the water damage to many other portions of my hallway floor.? I asked to see the original pictures on his camera. No response yet.

I agreed to have an independent evaluation by a 3rd party expert of his choice. Doyle refused unless he was present to supervise. I would not agree unless it was totally independent. Neither the regional or national ServPro Quality Assurance person would offer any remedy other quoting the "company line"

I chose to have a State Farm's Preferred/Authorized floor covering company to evaluate to situation. When I informed Doyle that they reported that there was no doubt that the parquet wood tiles buckled from the application of water, he said "they only want to sell a floor". The company line!

Doyle also denied the stretching of the living room carpeting. Doyle stated that he was not there to see the carpet  prior to that cleaning. The company line again.

ServPro also removed my A/C filter during the cleaning process. After waiting for at least a month for them to to return to replace the filter, I had it replaced myself. Shows reliability?

ServPro sent the same floor cleaner, John, to repair the hole in my wall.  Was he a floor cleaning or a wall repair specialist? Quality control?

I want ServPro and Doyle to pay the $2600 it will cost to replace the floor.

MY ANSWER TO REBUTTAL:

The reason for my rip-off report was that Mr. Doyle, REFUSED to an independent in survey at my residence. He wants to use Better Business Bureau to circumvent an independent inspection at my residence without his presence to influence the inspection. I asked him to supply me with the pictures that he submitted to my local 6ABC consumer advocate. If I were to agree to mediation, I need to examine, in advance, all pictures and correspondence with this TV station to be able to authenticate all the material submitted. I also asked for him to bring his camera to any mediation with BBB to compare them with the submitted photos. He has not complied. Why???? I told Doyle that he will have to produce these materials when to go to court if that what he wants to do. As a 77 year old, I am tired of reading of companies who take advantage of senior citizens. It is time someone took I a stand whether it be through the Internet or civil court. All I want is what is due me for the damage to my floor. A very reliable Floor Company quoted the price of $2,600.

Unhappy customers are not what anyone wants and I'm sorry Mr Rosoff feels as he does. We strive to satisfy 100% of our customers unfortunatly in this case it seems we can not.

Mr. Rosoff, recently contacted our local news consumer affairs office they followed up with me directly; we spoke at length I provided the data requested they they dropped the claim.  I welcome the opportunity to settle the matter in a venue where both parties can be fairly heard.
