Seth Chase Western Outfitters Bought horse sick with EPM Magdalena New Mexico
I bought a Missouri Fox Trotter mare from Seth Chase in mid-June of 2020 and had her shipped to me in TX. I talked with him extensively and he assured me that she was a perfect lady and an experienced trail horse.
After a few days of allowing her to settle in, I saddled her and got on. She was clearly annoyed and very anxious, but also stumbled on her back feet several times. I had a neighbor trainer come out to evaluate her for riding further and we made and sent videos to a gaited horse trainer I know who suggested I test her for EPM.
I then took her to a vet for a neurological exam and he drew blood to test her. Her test came back positive and I am treating her. I saw another review here of a horse he sold with EPM also so obviously once they begin to show symptoms, he uses his outfitting business as a selling point to dump them on unsuspecting folks. My bad for trusting even though I knew better than to buy a horse I hadn't ridden.
