I have bought 7 horses in the last 3 years and dealt with more than a few dishonest horse traders but Seth Chase takes prize for the worst! What a nightmare ! He will advertise his crap online on equinenow.com and makes them sound like the best mountain horse you will ever own, he takes your money and then get ready for the nightmare to begin . He represented 2 Missouri Fox Trotter geldings , Seth says "They are super smooth and have the absolute best handle. These are two of the best I've ever rode ...anyone in your family can ride them " "The best in the mountains” I pay for them and now I can’t even get a transporter to him . He claims he is at the rodeo and he can’t have them picked up . 3 weeks go by I finally get a transporter and get it all arranged and paid for but now Seth won’t answer his phone to get my transporter there . Anyways long story short I finally get the geldings here and they are the wrong breed ! He sends me two Tennessee walkers that are crapola ! Turns out they are so crazy nobody in my family can ride them . They won’t even cross water . Seth says "well we don’t have a lot of water here in New Mexico " Now I’m stuck with them and have to either dump them or go after him . There goes 10k down the drain! I will be pursuing him legally. I don’t normally like to give bad reviews on anyone or any company but I do not want this to happen to anyone else . Feel free to contact me with any questions .

I saw pictures before I bought them . I did not see video because I had bought a Fox Trotter from him that turned out pretty good so he had gained my trust . This is where I went wrong in that i now trusted him . I did not do more due diligence on these second 2 horses and this is where I really went wrong.... trusting Seth. How did you know the horses were not registered ? I asked him again and agin if they were MFT . He gave me a bill of sale that they were MFT . He told me himself they were fox trotters . Also he said these were his and his brothers last two personal MFT horses that he bought when the horses were very young from Missouri and they used them hundreds of miles in the mountains. He never said I’m not sure what they are , he said they are Missouri Fox Trotters . He’s a liar . These horses have not been hundreds of miles in the mountains and they are not MFT . He told me these were his last two and that his end goal was to buy mules . Then i see one horse after another on equinenow.com . This guy is in the business of buying horses cheap and selling high . He lies and says his horses are bomb proof and the horse anyone in family could ride . Temperament is always a 1 . I could go on . I decided to get on here to warn others . I have no other motive . What is your motive ? Do you know Seth ? Is he a friend of yours ? All I am saying is It’s a crap shoot buying a horse from Seth . It is also illegal doing what he is doing . If you or anyone would like to discuss my experience feel free to Contact me .

Hi,   I am curious, did you see the horses before you bought them? On video, photographs? Is something different in their appearance from what you saw? You can go on lots of websites selling gaited horses, and unless they are registered, DNA'd, from registered stock, or have some identifiable proof that they are of a specific breed, it can be very hard to tell the difference in some cases. If you pursue the seller legally, a lawyer will likely want to establish what your expectations of the seller were in terms of their providing proof of the horses' breed. No registration, no permanant ID, it's anybody's guess, sometimes TWHs look like MFTS and vice versa.

Sounds like their training was also not what you expected..."they are so crazy no one in my family can ride them. They won't even cross water". If so, yes, that is a lot different than "anyone in your family can ride them" and sad. Again, did you see them being ridden, or ride them before you bought them? Have you consulted a trainer? I'm sure you're disappointed.

Lastly, it sounds like the transport was also not what you expected. I recently shipped three horses with three different transporters; one transporter was great, one pretty bad, and one in the middle. I will say, all three of them communicated directly to both me and the sellers. Delays can be very frustrating, usually the seller is as anxious to get the horse shipped as the buyer.

I am very sorry you have had so many issues with your horses and what should have been an exciting, postivie, experience, turned out to be so negative. It is nice of you to want to protect other people from having a similar experience. A little more clarification might really help.

FYI,  I, too, recently purchased a horse from the same person, and maybe I should knock on wood, but so far, the horse is everything I expected;  a gentle, well-mannered, anyone can ride guy, just as described (haven't tried crossing water with him yet though ;)).. He, too, was listed as a MFT, and is he? I don't know, he's gaited, but he's not registered (and looks nothing like my registered MFT mare). He does however, look exactly like what I expected him look like based on the information I had; photos, height, weight, video.

You said at the end of your post, "Feel free to contact me with any questions." I would be interested in learning more about your experience and can share with you mine, and maybe I missed it, but I don't see any contact information for you. Maybe you can edit your report and include the contact information.
