Complaint Review: Shadowshopper Research

Shadowshopper Research - Mr. Arnold Thompson - Kearst Bock Two Peoples Names On Check That I Can't Read Puzzled by three differint addresses on envelope, letter, and check. Reading the letter carefully I noticed by the third paragraph how the money was to be distributed. Ripoff for sure! Toronto Ontario

I did not get ripped off but received one from Shadow shopper Research. I just wanted to report it because it sounded good until you read it a couple of times. By then I knew it was to good to be true. Reading and re-reading is a must when you receive a check for $3,700.60.

To many different addresses on letter, envelope, and check. Another clue of deception. Though I have to say all the documents looked official. "Real Pros"

NOT ShadowShopper but Someone Posing As

#2UPDATE Employee

Tue, February 10, 2009

This post refers to a Nigerian check scam run out of various locations in Canada, that targets consumers using fraudulent letters and checks claiming to be legitimate companies like WalMart, Target, and ShadowShopper, and asking them to do what they call a 'mystery shopping assignment'. By fraudulently using ShadowShopper's name and sometimes even a knock-off of their logo (they also use the logos of major retailers for credibility) they try to 'prove' that they're real. The check, which is always from another party (most recently a fraudulent imitation of the State of Maryland's checks!) will eventually bounce but not until the consumer sends good funds through a Western Union to the criminals. Again, this is NOT ShadowShopper. ShadowShopper is a victim just like the consumers that fall for the fraud.
