Shaletta Barnes claimed she was a broker who was going to get me into an apartment in New York City for a good price. This was a brand new apartment that was still under construction

She collected thousands of dollars from me as downpayment for the apartment.

I met with her several times to sign paperwork and to provide her some methods of identification that she asked for.

She brought me layout plans and had me select one for myself. On one occasion, she even interviewed me on behalf of the Apartment.

This whole process was over the course of almost a year and I was under the assumption that this was okay because the apartment was still under construction.

After she had exhausted everything else she could do to stall the process, she scheduled a date for me to pick up a key from her for my new apartment.

That date passed, and so did the other dates that she ended up rescheduling with me to pick up the key.

Then, she just refused to pick up my phone calls.

So then I looked up her number online, that's when I found out that she was a fraud and that she has done this to so many other people

I found this website where people were complaining about here (800notes.com). After looking up more information on her, I also found her resume here on (indeed.com).

What finally helped me to get in touch with her was when I found out where she worked. She works at a women's shelter in NY Palladia ... I called the number (212) 680-4555 and asked to speak to her.

The receptionist told me she would call me back, after she screened me to see who I was.

At this point, I texted her again letting her know that I just want my money back or else I would be going to the police. She responded that she does "not respond to threats." And that's the last I've heard from her.

The police stated that there is nothing they can do, and filing a lawsuit would ultimately cost me more than the amount of money she already owes me.
