Back in December 2007 (7 months ago) I bought a 19" Sharp LCD TV. I read great reviews and loved the TV when we first bought it. Cost was about $250.

What I failed to realize was the very limited warranty. Several weeks ago the TV started having problems and then totally died. I called Sharp fully expecting a seemless process to either ship the TV back to them for a warranty repair or to be told of a local repair shop that could do the work.

What I learned is that Sharp covers parts for 1 year (as expected) BUT only covers labor for the first 90 days. I am not aware of any other TV that has such a limited warranty. In fact, I have recently had to make warranty claims for Sony and Toshiba (for family members and before you ask the TVs were all in different houses). Warranty claims were easy and quick.

Sharp's minumum charge is $120 plus I have to pay for shipping. The TV only cost $250. As a result I have two choices: 1) pay more than half the cost of the TV to have it repaired or buy a new TV from another company.

I am very dissappointed with Sharp and this will certainly figure into my next purchase decision.
