Shaver Auto Center took me for $4K San Bernardino California
I just bought a new Jeep Liberty from this dealer and they made a fool out of me. Knowing better, I trusted these guys as to what they said was the same on the contract. Not so! My fault for not reading line by line on the sales contract and forgetting to bring my reading glasses, however, I was charged $3850.00 for an extended 36 month service contract which I verbally agreed with the finance guy that it was reduced to $900.00 from $1200.00. Also I was charged and extra $700.00 for some kind of Scotchguard protection. I did agree to $750 for a package deal with Scotchguard, oil changes and an alarm system. That is on the contract but they sneaked in the extra $700.00 on a separate line. I also was charged for nitro tire gas?
After the fact, I did some online research and discovered this is a common ripoff practice from this dealer. Wish I would have checked first!
I wrote them a check for $15K as a down payment and financed the rest. I am tempted to put a stop on the check but not sure if it that will create more problems for me....... sued for breach of contract or something? I like the car and just want these unauthorized charges removed.
