Shell Oil Company ripoff with gas gift card Pleasanton
A couple years ago my mother purchased a $100 gift card for me at the Shell Station in Pleasanton, CA.
When I tried to use this card, I was told that it had expired. No where on the card or its packaging was an expiration date or anything referencing an expiration of the card. The gas station where I tried to redeem the card called Shell's corporate office to no avail.
I mailed the card and its packaging to my mother so that she could take it back to the Pleasanton, CA station where she purchased the card. The attendant at the station agreed that there was nothing signifying an expiration date and called the corporate office - again to no avail.
Shell had absolutely no right to take the $100 that had already been paid and refuse to honor the card, especially since there was absolutely no information on the card regarding an expiration date. And doing nothing to rectify this situation is no way to treat good customers.
