Beware of this 'saver card' because Shell is doing dirty, awful business.

I was encouraged at one of Shell's gas stations to get a 'Shell $aver Card'. The hook is that you 'save' cents each time you put gas in your card using this card after linking to your bank account.
I had problems when using this card because either the card was defective, or the gas station had the system down all the time. Once I put some gas in my car and it was only $16.00.

A month later, I received a letter from a collections agency asking me to pay $180.00 because they claimed I never paid a 'bounced' check to Shell. First of all, that was a bad collection practice, since Shell never notified me, neither my bank, that something bad happened on the way and that I should fix it. I checked on my bank statements and everything was OK. I just didn't pay attention to that; but after several months I received a letter from Miami Dade County Attorney enforcing me to pay $256 (and some cents), or I would go to jail just for not paying $16.00. They allegedly stated in the letter that I 'willfully' issued a non-funded check; like I committed fraud. I called them and disputed the case to no avail.

Shell is a big fish, so even 1 non-paid cent will turn into a million dollars to charge you if you make a mistake. So beware, because they won't stop until they put you in jail.
