Telemarketer called that we could receive 3 nites hotel and air for two people to Vegas if we would go to Chicago presentation of Shell Vacation timeshares.

We went but did not buy. Received certificate for above travel but acknowledgment from Mini Vacations, 410 Ware Blvd, Tampa FL 33619 required $50 per person good will deposit, which we sent to MVI.

MVI acknowledged a travel date several months hence and has since acknowledged at least 3 more dates as long as a year and a half after we heard the presentation. MVI has offered to refund our $100 if we accept trips of perhaps a third the value.

bad experience with Shell Vacations

My experience with Shell Vacations resorts has been very negative. We own a week at a resort in Canada--Carriage Hills resort-- and have found it extremely difficult to use and have found both the sales people and the management at the resort unethical in some of our dealings with them. Perhaps the overall Shell corporation is OK, but I would take some of these positive reviews with a grain of salt. Our trip for attending a 90 minute sales pitch was FANTASTIC.

We are having a GREAT time with Shell. EVERY WORD they have said to us has been true. Our trip for attending a 90 minute sales pitch was FANTASTIC. In fact some jerk was making an arse out of himself at the presentation and made it run long at the 90 minute mark they asked if we wanted to have our travle vouchers. Stupid us we said yes and left. We took the trip every word they said was true when we returned we bought in. Could not be happier. There is NO RIP OFF here! Just good times from a good company.

Me and my boyfriend got 4 nights hotel stay in Hawaii and 2 $50 airfare vouchers for attending a presentation in Phoenix. It was not bad at all.

We just booked our 4 free nights at the timeshare in Kona and dealt with a very helpful rep with Shell Vacations, who is giving us 2 additional nights if we attend one more presentation. All we are paying so far is 10.00/night in taxes.

We also just received the 2 AWA gift cards. So far we have received everything we were told.

I just bought our airfare . Hopefully the vacation will go off without any major disasters.

Shell Vacations... "Independent with Integrity"

After reading the complaint from the presentation attendae, it appears that Shell did everything that they promised!

The gifts are contracted sometimes by outside vendors and are purchased by the said resort marketing their timeshare or vacation program or club. The gifts can be a certificate to be redeemed through the travel vendor within a year or 2 years. They do require some follow up and most of the times the travel vendor may require a refundable deposit to show good faith or commitment in booking the complimentary trip..after all there are clerical arrangements to be made and space or rooms to be blocked which could be used for income producing retail business. this is no different than the traditional travel agency business.

The space used for the recipients may be unsold inventory or based on cancelations so holidays are usually blocked from use. It does require a small ammount of flexability in scheduling and travel dates. but if you really want to take advantage of the gift you can enjoy its rewards. Many potential buyers of the timeshare products never use or take advantage of their gifts.

This is deemed by the marketers ans sellers as breakage and a large percentage of these gifts become breakage (never used) and adds to the bottom line of the sellers profits. the gifts are good for the most part so if you have the time in your schedule use them....dont look a gift horse in the mouth.

As an multiple owner of the product for over 10 years and after nearly 50 vacations booked and used, rented out or given as gifts I can say financially I would have never been able to take those fabulous trips without owning the product. Its not a perfect industry (is their such an animal) but it surely beats the renting of standard motel and hotel rooms by the night which was fine for when I was in college or in my 20'ans 30's but when you get a little older and travel savy it sure is nice to have a beach front luxury suite or condo in a 5 star resort or mountain side villa or chalet with all the amenities of the resort at your disposal or comforts of home for your friends and family without the traditional bill presented to you at check out time!

Shell vacations has been a pioneer in the vacation resort and timeshare industry since the early 1980's. they have a collection of successful resorts from canada and the midwest to the southwest and the up and down the pacific coast including the popular and most sought after Hawaiian Island destinations. With hundreds of thousands of happy owners from all over the world Shell has and continues to be a leader in the industry as one of the most successful and ethical independent marketers and sellers of the vacation timeshare product.
sincerely,
