Complaint Review: Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay

We have a reservation for the end of August that if fully paid for with Marriott credit card 35,000 certificates. Apperantly, hotel is changing hands and Marriott is no longer wants to accept certificates for this reservation. We have to pay in Marriott points or they cancel our reservation. Certificates are about to expire and the entire trip was planned over 6 month ago to utilize them.

Hotel was sold in February 2021, but Marriott did not bother to  notify us until July 29th or take steps to prevent this situation. We contacted Marriott, but their resolution was to downgrade us to a Courtyard because *we were only entitled to a place to stay (not a nice place to stay)*. We asked Marriott to convert 35,000 certificates to 35,000 points, so we can keep our current reservation or move us (and our daughter's family who is also coming on the trip) to nicer hotel for what we already paid. So far we have no answer.
