I wished I had checked this website before buying a puppy from Sherry Andrews of Burr Oaks, MI (www.shershihtzus.com).

I bought a puppy from her and being the first time puppy owner, I was overwhelmed. I called Sherry, telling her I am half mind about keeping the puppy. She wanted me to send the puppy back asap. I was reluctant to put the puppy back on a 10hr flight back to Michigan. Instead, I choose to find a loving home for the puppy here -- the puppy don't have to endure the long journey back. I placed an advertisement. It was priced alot lower than what I paid for. The ad was on for a day before Sherry found out about it. She wanted me to send it back to her, saying I violated her contract etc. As I don't want to deal with all the unpleasantness, I send the puppy back (which at that time, I was getting very attached to it).

She then wrote an email saying I violated her contract (which states that I cannot sell the puppy) and she plans not to refund me, even when she got her puppy back. I got my attorney to speak to her as I was tired of her ranting nonsense. Here are some of her reasons she cited for not refunding me:

1) I was selling the puppy. My rebuttal: Placing an ad IS NOT A SALE. No sale has taken place just by placing an ad. Hence, contract is not violated. If everytime Ms Andrews advertise to sell her puppy on her website, has a sale taken place? Only when there is an exchange of goods/money/services then a sale is considered to have taken place.

2) She said I did not bring the puppy for a vet check. My rebuttal: I got the puppy on Saturday evening. Monday is a labor day. In the contract, I am given 3 working days -- which means I have up to Thursday to have the puppy checked. Puppy was checked on Thursday and I sent her a copy of the vet health certificate ( I scanned it in email and sent it to her). She clearly wasn't interested enough to open it up.

She then wrote a whole bunch of FALSE allegations on her website about me. She EXAGGERATES everything -- even now when I check out her website where she bitches about others, I know they are 99.9% false and heavily exaggerated.

Her false allegations:

1) She said that she went to the airport many times but then I changed my mind on putting the puppy on the flight. What a bunch of crock! There was only once she had to go to the airport. The rest of the times were discussions between us on the time and flight. I cannot believe it when she said she went there afew times!

2) Puppy was dirty when he arrived in her hands. He is a puppy, he soils himself! It is a long flight. When he arrived in my hands, he was dirty and smelly too!

After my attorney spoke to her, she refund me my money with $300 less. She said she had to deduct the cost of gasoline etc. $300? Just for driving to the nearest airport in Kalamazoo? Even a whole tank will not cost $300! She don't even have to pay for the puppy flight back.

I was reading the reports on her. I cannot help but agree that she actually runs a puppy mill. She runs a puppy mill with a nicer set-up - one that churns out puppies like there is no tomorrow. Count the no. of female dogs has. She has 11 female dogs! With an average of 2 litters a year and 4 puppies each, that is 44 puppies! Do you see any of them in the show ring?

Potential buyer beware! If anything to go by, there are afew ripoff reports on her already. There are many BETTER breeders out there. The way she rips on people on her website -- speaks for itself.

I am totally aware of this situation. The person trashing Sherry is one that Sherry sent a puppy to in California. Sherry's contract clearly states that a puppy is to come back to Sherry if they do not want the puppy. I am one of Sherry's customers and know her contract well, and Rinaldo was the puppy that Mei Lin Ong, tried to get rid of by selling him. My freind now has Rinaldo, thank God Sherry got him back ! He is a healthy beautiful little boy who I saw last week when I visited my friend. This Mei Lin Ong, a foreigner who has no class at all, and is ignorant on top of it, is a lousy person. I know Sherry quite well, and so does my friend. I have watched these breeder wars for over a year, and have decided that this site is only here to bash people. It does not matter who you are, or even if you sign in with fake information, I tried it and yes, that is what everyone is doing. Thank you Sherry for my awesome puppy. Linda thanks you also, Rinaldo is gorgeous and is going into the show ring, my Buffy is also incredible, healthy and beautiful.
So to you Mei Lin Ong, quit hiding behind a fake name, its a very good thing that you did not sell that puppy to a puppy mill, Sherry would have had you in court faster than you can imagine. Shame on you for being so cruel to animals. Sherry was also right in refunding your money minus expenses, I know for a fact that she drove 3 hours one way, and on two occasions to make sure this puppy was taken care of with love.

So, miss Mei Lin Ong, now that we know your real name, have the guts to tell the truth. If you notice in this email, you state that you are from Chicago, you screwed up when you mentioned the 10 hour flight. HA HA Sherry only lives 3 hours from Chicago, a 10 hour flight is obviously a California destination.

You are lucky Sherry refunded you anything, that is because she is a good person.

I will be buying my puppy from Sherry VERY VERY soon. I have NEVER seen breeders GIVE you a 10 day money back gurantee on dogs. Let alone ALL your money back if you are NOT happy with your dog. See the "lady" who is trying to bash Sherry did NOT mentioned that she sent the dog back a gazillion times. WHY would you try and RE-SELL a puppy for in craigslist? Then ship the puppy back and then have the NERVE to request the money back? Come on now let's be REAL you are ashamed that you got busted! You sound a bit confused.

My dealings thus far with Sherry have been AMAZING and she definately cares for her dogs. I have NEVER filled out a 37 questionaire for a puppy before. That shows you a LADY with CLASS and CONCERN for her puppies.

You where trying to RIP her off. I am also VERY concerned as to why your comments say you are from Sunnyvale lol and your name at the bottom says CHICAGO?????? LOL All I can say is SHAME ON YOU and that YOU have TOO much time on your hands!!

You don't say in your report that there was anything wrong with the puppy. Was there some medical condition that you didn't mention or did you just decide that you didn't want the puppy?

You were lucky that she even considered a refund. Very few breeders will even offer a refund unless there is a medical condition found within a certain time frame, 3 days from purchase is pretty standard.

I have looked over her website and her adoption application. Several times it says that the dog must be returned to her. You signed the contract but decided to sell the dog. You want to say that an ad to sell the dog isn't selling it. Technically that is correct, but wasn't that your intention? Why else post an ad to sell a dog if you didn't intend to sell it? And how is it a 10 hour flight from Chicago, where your report says that you live, to MI? I can't imagine it taking that long to drive there, much less fly.

And no, I have no connection to her or to shihtzus, I just don't know how in this situation she has ripped you off.
