Shipco International Inc. Key contact: Ruthann O'connell No exhageration.....packaged glass items as a 10 year old would. 4 of 10 items totally smashed. clinton, Ontario
In Oct, 09 I purchased items from an online auction house (Shackleton's Auctions) in Stratford Ont. It was highly suggested by a Shannon to spend the extra dollars and ship my items with Shipco. I was informed it would be a while before Shipco would pick up my items and that Ruthann would call me with a quote. Ruthann never called. I received my items a while later and when I opened the box I was shocked, amazed. 4 of the 10 items were totally smashed. I didn't even unwrap them for fear of getting slivers in my fingers. They were wrapped one time with a single sheet of the smallest bubble wrap. I called UPS who came by the following Monday to pick up the items and showed the items to the carrier. I also took very detailed pictures of the items in case I ran into the problem I'm writing about now. A check of their website
http://www.profilecanada.com/companydetail.cfm?company=2372548_Shipco_International_Inc_Clinton_ON
will reveal that there are about 3 employees, which probably explains why it took so long for Shipco to pick up the items. I've called to speak to ruthann at least three times and she's either in a meeting, very busy or when transferred to her I get her voice mail. Here's a little tid bit of info that may also point to their incompetence.
"Since October 2008, Alberta, Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador were the only provinces with faster rates of employment decline than the national average." I trade stocks and know too well about the disadvantages of understaffed companies, due to downsizing, and how the global consumer community will truly suffer as a result of the need for productivity and the methods used to achieve that productivity; cut maintenance, reduce workforces, make the remaining workers work faster, harder and longer hours. We're fortunate enough not to have to worry about the money lost due to the careless, inept workmanship provided by Shipco International. I am writing what exactly took place. I urge you and all concerned consumers to let others know to steer clear of Shipco International in Clinton, Ontario. My bids totaled $382.50 + 15% buyers premium of 57.38 + sales tax of 57.19 for a total of $497.07. Then we paid $109.00 for this joke of a shipping job, and $57.00 customs, for a grand total of $663. 07. Consumers, tweet, blog or do whatever it takes but voice your disgust. Seriously. Good luck all & take care.
