Shock City Cellular sold me the 30 day trial run for Verizon wireless. The person who was selling to me gave me 5 phones all with lines attached to them but only two were registered, one was even registered onto my friends account with her number (but it stilled showed on my statements with a line on it go figure). He started with giving me one phone and somehow screwed up the process and said "keep it and use it for a hockey puck or something" then added another phone onto the account, screwed it up again and said "holy bleep crap... pardon my language".

In the end I left the mall with 5 cell phones, one on another account, two with working lines, and the rest were dead plastic. I let it go and about 25 days later I went back to the store and tried to return everything, I wasn't happy with the service and was told to call the rep first on his private cell # and he would "hook me up".

I went into the store and attempted to return the phones. The manager was there and told me "We cannot take these phones because they are not in 'like new condition' and you didn't port your number." I didn't know what the hell he was talking about and proceeded to have a breakdown because I had about $1000.00 worth of merchandise with me that they refused to take and I am only a teenager, not much income to speak of.

I was told to contact Verizon and see what they would do for me and I did, long story short they honored the agreement of the thirty day trial and I paid the amount I was supposed to and Verizon wireless told me to keep the phones because they couldn't take them.

This was in July/August time and now in December I recieve a collections notice from Global Adjusters for around $2300.00 for the phones, I never recieved a bill and I never signed a contract stating I have to have 180 days of uninteruppted service to get the phones for free. Needless to say I AM disputing these charges and spreading the word as far as I can that I was DECIEVED and USED and Shock city doesn't even have the decency to contact me about it.

I strongly suggest spreading the word and saving friends and family from crooks like these!

Like I told someone else....Take it from me; I worked for SCC for over 4 years and I know how they operate, not only that I was a Store Manager so trust me. They got you on the EPA. thats the form where they made you imprint your Credit Card. Now take it from me; the employees there are trained to come up with slick ways to pitch it because if they are too detailed about it, no customer in their right mind will ever do it. So why buy from guys like them? you shouldn't things may not always go right with your service provider so yes you have the right to cancel. take verizon; your case. They only charge 175 to cancel, shock city wants to charge you an extra 350 per phone because they are under contract with the provider that the customer will keep the phone for at least 6 months/181 days otherwise verizon does a chargeback. To cover their butts scc goes after you. So I am sorry you went throught this cause i am for sure the employee didnt tell you exactly what it was; I didnt do it really but I needed to get sales no matter what; thats what they taught us. Its a dirty game and I dont recommend that anyone should ever buy from them. its not fair for the customer to have to pay an additional 350 on top of what they already owe for the provider. They should've taken those phones back, I know for sure cause I've seen it done that they take back phones and resell them, trust me I have seen it with my own eyes under my watch

I appreciate the feedback and although it seemed a little hostile (and bad spelling) it is noted that you were thinking I was trying to find a way out of a contract which WAS read before signing.

First off: It was explained to my by the rep. that the photo copy of a credit card was for security purposes that if by chance I could not pay for the phones they would take an automatic payment from the card.

Second off: NONE of the phones were damaged in any way. Only three of the phones were used; one by my girlfriend who used it because it was put onto her plan by the sales agent, the second was used for her cousin who did most of the primary txting/calling and the third was by me for ONE phone call that had such poor reception that I didn't use it again.

The fact that you would tell a complete stranger to "man up" is rude and irresponsible on your part for the fact that you weren't there, you don't know what happened, and you didn't know that I am not the first to be "dupped". I was told face to face by a Verizon wireless store manager that Shock city cellular had left the state of WI because of the complaints from the customers going up the corporate tree in Verizon wireless. I've explained my situation to a lawyer, showed him the phones AND the contract I signed and he agrees with me in the fact that I was scammed.

Comment read, comment understood, thank you for feedback.

Read before you sign

Dear "Paganchild" (nice name?), granted you are a teenager and you may not think you have to read a contract before you sign it, you actually do in order to avoid these situations. When they took a print of your credit card don't you think you should have asked why they did this? Wouldn't it make sense to find out what you are signing and why you got 5 phones for free? Don't make the excuse that "I am just a teenager" thats basically you saying, "I am just an idiot" when someone gets your social security number, your credit card infotmation, your adress and your signature. So you can complain that you were duped into this situation when in fact you were so excited about getting five phones for free, and probably bragged for about 48 hours to your little teenage buddies, until you realized that you have a bill to pay each month. You probably did damage the phones and that is why they could not return them. After all you are "just a teenager". Why should a company hve to pay for you not being responsible? Man up, take responsibility foor your own lack of attention and pay, like every one else.
