Shop - Great Fun Card working together to steal funds from card holders ripoff Norwalk Connecticut
I first want to state I had no problems with the part I ordered or the parts supplier. I did have a bad experience with Shop.com however.
At the end of my purchase I was given the opportunity to save $20 off my next experience if I clicked a link so I did so. I saw that it sent me elsewhere so I closed my browser and forgot about it. A week later I received a "Great Fun" card in the mail. I knew I never ordered such a card and call the company.
I found out that Shop.com not only forwarded my information to them but forwarded them my credit card and they were going to debit my card each month for this membership I never ordered. I wish I could say the problem stopped there but "Great Fun" would not cancel my card nor stop the monthly debits from my credit card.
It was only after I explained to them that I work as a credit card fraud investigator for a major bank would they reverse their position. Shop.com should understand that according to both Visa and MasterCard regulations it is considered fraud to relay a cardholder's account number to another company. That would be true even IF I gave permission and I certainly did not.
Furthermore my CVV2 number was transmitted to this outside service. Under regulations this number is not allowed to be stored at all no less given to a 3rd party.
What Shop.com does here jeopardizes their entire merchant account and if reported would place them on the WATCH list whereas they would never be able to obtain an account with any acquiring bank again.
If I find a charge on my account next month everyone can be assured I will open this can of worms and see that this willful disregard for the contracts they have signed will be addressed at the highest level.
