Well just wanted to let anybody know if you recently purchased a centrino(R) 1.5ghz laptop(model v22308)from shopnbc to make sure you have the right parts in it.I bought mine 10 months ago on the phone & was surprised to find out my wireless card on my device manager under
network cards was different than what it should be.

So come to find out w/some research that the device that was on my computer was a realtek wireless mini pci 8180l card. But because it is sold as a centrino(R) it should have came with a intel(R)pro/wireless 2100 card mini pci. So I called up viscom to let them know what was going on & that I would like the card to get replaced W/the right one that should be in there.

The tech or techs that i spoke to within that month all gave different answers & excuses to
why it's in there, from "If it's working then what's wrong? to "It is the intel(R) pro/ wireless 2100 in there w/the wrong drivers" no
help from them even their supervisor said "there is nothing wrong with it so why fix it?" at least that is what the tech told me.

I gave intel(R)a call the first time they were not much help. Told me to try reinstalling new drivers. So I did & it did not work. Called again finally someone asked me what I wanted them to do so I told them all I want is my computer to have the right parts.

After that it took a while but I finally got a call from ECS they were very eager to talk to me & left messages twice within two days. Finally got a hold of me & tried to convince me to keep the card because it had additional features & saying that the computer was better with it. I don't know if it is or isn't.

All I knew is that I wanted it to have the right part or parts in it. If I would have kept it they said to just take off that centrino(R) sticker off because it was non-compliant & was not a centrino. BUT WAIT A
MINUTE DIDN'T I BUY A CENTRINO?. Well thats what the guy said on T.V. maybe it was just a fluke but I would suggest you check your laptop if it is a centrino(R)designated brand.
Just to make sure, I got mine fixed. It was a compromise though I could not get the modem integrated like before with the combo card so they did a quick fix & gave me a modem card to fit in the pcmcia slot in case I needed dial-up so if that's a big issue for you don't
do the swap. One thing after I called intel(R)
they were very prompt at replacing the parts & getting in contact w/me. BUT I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!
