I received a letter with a check in the amount $4875 from Shoppers Link Financial Awards notifying me of the supposed winnings of $55,00.00 lump sum from a total purse of $1.1million US dollars. This was supposedly from a random computer ballot system. They said that 20 other people split the winnings.

The $4,875 was to be payment for the taxes due to I.R.S. But then in a pargraph further down in the letter it states that the tax amount was $3,835 to be directly paid to our tax agent through MoneyGram at our local Wal-Mart.

There are several company logos at the bottom of the page including MoneyGram , Western Union , FedEx , Wal-Mart , UPS , Computer Shopper & Paypal.

We have talked to Iowa BBB and they report this is a scam and ALL international lotteries are illegal in the US. They advised us to write void on the check and to take it in its original envelope to the post office and give it to the Postal Authorities.

for not falling for this well-known scam and using common sense. So many do not. I am glad you did not fall for it. :)
