Shutter Craft of Santa Rosa, CA charged us a lot of money to install interior window shutters. The shutters have a "lifetime warranty", are nice looking and seem to be manufactured very well. However, the shutters are held closed by magnets installed at the top and bottom of the windows. The plastic holders for the magnets are all cracked and falling apart after just over three years.

I called Shutter Craft three times before I finall got a live person to complain to. That person promised me that he would ship the magnet holders to me within a few days. I never received them! I called again and left a message on their answering machine. I have had no response from them to this date.

On January 14, 2010, I filed a complaint with the BBB in Oakland, CA. An email I received from the BBB today said that they would send Shutter Craft a second letter asking for a response.

Can I make it up to you by coming over and replacing your magnets at no charge? Or if you prefer I'll put them in the mail. Just let me know how many you want and where you want me to send them.

ShutterCraft Design shutters are warrented against manufacture defect for the life of the home. ShutterCraft Design shutters are not warrented against mis-use, wear and tear, or acks of god. Some window enviroments are more harsh than others and that is why some magnets fail and others do not. Magnets are made of plastic and have no warrenty from manufacture. ShutterCraft Design uses quality magnets as a closure for our shutters because of the quality feel.
