Signal Holdings C Works Solutions I paid $50.00 deductible. I shipped the new phone back via UPS. They claim I shipped an empty box and owe $200 for a phone I do not have plus they keep my deductible. My credit rating may be affected if I don't pay. They will turn me over to their collections dept. I Wayne York Pennsylvania
US Cellular is my mobile phone provider. I was paying for insurance on the cell phone (lost, stolen, damaged etc.). Nov. 2007, I received damage to the phone and filed a claim with Signal Holdings the insurance provider.
They promptly shipped a replacement phone, however, not the same brand. I called the company and asked why the different brand was sent and was told that the model I had was no longer available. I had to purchase a car charger because they do not come with phones and I expressed that to the company that I wanted to stay with the same brand LG instead of the Kyocera.
I took the phone into the US Cellular store to have it program for use and I expressed to them that I wanted to stay with the same brand that used the same charger and was presented with offer to purchase a LG brand that used the same charger. You would think the insurance company would have thought of that.
Well I called back that same day to cancel the claim. I asked what did I need to do with the phone they shipped me and was informed to use the label in the package and ship it back.
I made copy of the label with the UPS tracking information to track the phone that I shipped back. I call the insurance company to let them know that I had shipped the phone back and when should receive my $50 deductible back. I was told up 2-3 weeks and once they verify the phone was received.
Time went by, I called to ask about the status and they claim that when they received the package they opened it and there wasn't a phone in there. I received a letter from them stating they made numerous requests to receive my damaged phone and my failure to comply has invalidated my claim. They will keep the $50.00 ( which they never intended to return) apply it toward the $50.00 Admin Fee (bless their hearts) and charge me $200 for phone that vanished (highly unlikely).
So not only was I paying them $5.95 a month, they took my $50 got the phone that they will recycle to some other poor sucker and to add insult to injury they want me to pay them $200.
Business must be great for them !
