I add my grievance here because I want to publicize the fact everywhere I can that Silicon Solar is a shady business that should be put out of that business. I ordered a solar panel, pump and backup battery. I received a battery the next week. It came in a huge, tattered box with the battery in the very bottom and bunched up paper on top of it. Very poor protection.

My husband signed for the box from UPS but asked about any other boxes since it was still not large enough to contain a 37" solar panel and pump. It also was extremely light, not 40 lbs as it was suppose to weigh. I waited a few days thinking the boxes/box got split from the one. Nothing.

I will shorten this long drawn out affair by saying that I have called Silicon Solar 4 or 5 times and was told the first times that it was going out that day. Each time I called I was put on hold for extremely long periods, sometimes cut off immediately upon hearing someone answer, other times hung up on and each time I spoke to someone I was treated with disrespect. By the 3rd time of asking about the order and being told it would ship immediately I saw the light and checked them out online to find that they received NO good reviews whatsoever.

I called once again, put my phone on speaker so I could stand the long wait and told them to cancel the order. Her comeback was, It hasn't shipped... Well, duh, that's why I want to cancel it! I repeated that I wanted to cancel it and she said I should use the return # (RMA) that they had emailed me the previous week.. HUH? They NEVER emailed me even to let me know the order was being processed or shipped. She said she would resend the RMA #. I knew that wouldn't happen and it hasn't. They had put the charge for the full order on my card the very day I ordered. I called my credit card company and they credited the amount. In the meantime Silicon Solar has time to dispute my claims. From what I read about other's experiences they will probably then try to ship the remaining order and I know it would be junk. If there is any class action suit or anything else available I will aim to join in to put these people out of business.

Silicon Solar Inc started by designing and manufacturing solar energy products in an industry that was growing at an exponential rate. During these times we experienced several growing pains like many companies who are small and starting out. As a result of these growing pains, our customers service was below both my own and the company's expectations. Over the years we have worked to improve our customer service and ensure that our customers are receiving the most value in both their product and the service they receive, yet there is still room for improvement. Our company was founded as a product based company and as a goal and mission for 2009, we are shifting our focus toward a value added company that is determined to offer additional values to our customers through service.

We accept that there have been issues in the past and are working honorably to ensure that all of our customers (current and past) are serviced and provided with answers to some of their unanswered questions or service requests.

A successful business learns from its mistakes and being able to accept their mistakes and prevent them from happening again. There are no excuses for lack in customer service and this is why in 2009 it is our mission to ensure that we provide our customers with the highest level of service.
