They allowed an unauthorized employee of our business to switch our long distance provider. She may have said she was authorized but was not! Do not deal with this company.

Don't blame the employee - its part of the scam. They may claim to have a recording - but it was probably edited to play back exactly as they want it to.
If you go to court demand that the court have it analyzed for edits.

All they need is one YES reply that is not related to the change request, they then edit the recording and move the YES to where they want it. The whole thing is part of the scam and your employee probably did not agree.

from the 800notes article

"Slamming":
Slamming occurs when customers have their telephone service switched to a new carrier without their permission. You may receive a call from a telemarketer asking you to switch your long distance provider. Although you say you are not interested in switching, your long distance provider is changed anyway.

Its important that all your employees know about these scams, I got called by the toner and phone services scam. I knew both were scams when I received the calls so no problems there. What was crazy about the phone services - I work for a telecom company!
