PLEASE BEWARE OF PET STORE OWNERS THAT WILL NOT RELEASE ALL INFORMATION CONCERNING WHERE YOUR PET ORIGINATED FROM. IF THEY WILL NOT FURNISH INFO INCLUDING PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS DO NOT BUY YOUR NEW PET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although I love this little girl, she is clearly not a purebred Dachshund.

Helene Nevens Behring is the owner of Silverado Puppies Plus in Las Vegas, Nevada and refuses to take any responsibility for selling a Dachshund as a purebred when it is clearly a mixed breed. This dog came from "Hillbilly Kennels" in Sprindale, Arkansas from Pat Teter BEAL. I contacted the BBB and they do not handle this cases as "formal complaints". I have contacted the USDA and lodged a complaint and will continue to pursue this. The breeder Pat Beal will not respond to my letters or phone calls.(The pet store would not give the information so I had to get a private investigator) IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO HIDE, YOU HIDE NOTHING!

You can get a blood test done to tell you exactly what the breed is. Everyone that buys from there should get a blood test on their puppies.

I used to work for them in early 2006. Helene gets her puppies from puppy mills! I saw them giving shots to the puppies using the same needles. They ripped me off by not paying me my commission on quite a few puppies. One puppy came back with parvo & they stuck him in the back rather than take him to a vet. They bad mouth employees & I even had Helene follow me around the store HARASSING ME asking if I was going to quit basically forcing me to quit after they accused me of using meth which I would have gladly taken a drug test to prove otherwise! I am surprised if they are still in business!

Even though this report is old, felt like I had to add some of my own comments.

I know a small time breeder of Dachshunds and have also came across several Dachshund mixes (Dachshund/Beagle, Dachshund/Chihuahua, etc).

That looks like a purebred, albet badly bred, Dachshund in the face. Obviously, I can't tell anything more than that, but presumably the Chihuahua-suspect part must be in the face since that's the shot they chose to post. If the Dachshund is tall or short backed or has any other defect that can't be seen, obviously no comment can be made. But from what I see, it looks like a Dachshund to me.

But I admit that doesn't mean much. Chihuahua mixes often don't show many characteristics and the fine taper of the muzzle might be caused by Chiuhuahua breeding, or it could just as easily be caused by poor Dachshund breeding.

In any case, you certainly overpaid. Pet shops are horrible places to get animals from, you don't know where the babies are coming from or how they were raised, you can't see if their parents' conformation matches the breed standard, and you risk giving money to poor breeders and puppy millers. Not to mention pet shops often charge much more than a rescue or breeder would.

Also, that you didn't get the breeder's information shows that you also didn't get papers on this dog, did you? Otherwise the breeder's information would be printed on the registration certificate. Another reason not to buy from pet shops.

Well, I hope you and your dog are doing well.

Question: Why are you buying a dog and paying nearly $1,000 for it WITHOUT SEEING BOTH PARENTS AND THE PLACE WHERE THE DOG WAS BRED???

Question: Why don't you report the dog breeders to wherever the dog is supposed to be registered to, like maybe the AKC? For that kind of money, you DID get pedigree papers and registration papers, didn't you?

Question: Why didn't you buy from a LOCAL breeder so you could see what you were going to buy?

Question: WHY DIDN'T YOU GO TO THE LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER AND SEE IF THEY HAD THE BREED OF DOG YOU WANTED AND YOU COULD HAVE SAVED A LIVE AND GOT A BEAUTIFUL PET FOR A LOT LESS THAN $1,000! YOU COULD HAVE GOT TWO AND SAVE TWO LIVES AND HAD ENOUGH TO FEED BOTH FOR QUITE A WHILE. AND THEY USUALLY THROWN IN SHOTS AND SPAY AND /OR NEUTER AS WELL.

What makes you think this is not a doxy? Really cute doxy actually. You should be proud. Unless there is something missing from the picture? I am baffled as to how you could say this is "clearly a mixed breed"? You didn't get breeder name and address when you bought your pup?
