I was looking to hire a reliable & affordable moving company to assist my family in our first move. I heard a lot of scary stores about moving companies breaking items, overcharging, etc. so of course I did my homework. After talking to a few companies I decided to hire Silverback Moving. On June 26th I paid a $100 deposit to reserve my moving day. I was assured the $100 deposit would be applied to my final balance (At the bottom of the document it says "your $100 deposit will be deducted from your total at the end of the move). The fees for my contract consisted of a $149 service fee , $79 per hr (minimum of 3 hrs) for 2 guys. To reduce the cost, my husband & I moved most of our boxes prior to our move day. We wanted to use Silverback to move our heavy furniture. I told them from the the beginning I needed to exchange keys with the new owners by 1pm the day of moving, so we needed to get started at 9am. Well, the guys arrived @ 10:30. They had the wrong cost for the service fee. Instead of the $149, they had $199. When they called their manager, Jim, they were told to mark the fee down to $179, but that still wasn't the correct service fee in my contract. After wasting 15 minutes on the clock, I found my contract & contacted the office & asked the girl, Courtney, to confirm the correct cost with the crew so the final paperwork was updated accordingly. Courtney did nothing. When they pulled into the driveway, I started my phone clock once they arrived to keep track on the time/ cost. It took the crew 20 mins to back into my drive way. Instead of having one guy back-up the truck while the other guy wrapped our furniture, they both sat in the truck wasting another 20 minutes. We had 2 guys helping us from the company. One guy was amazing. He had a process, he was quick, direct and knew what he was doing. The other guy took a lot of breaks, complained & didn't want to lift anything heavy. I carried more boxes & furniture out to the lawn than this guy, but I remained respectful as I know moving isn't an easy job. I had to remind the crew 3x that we had to be out of the house before 1pm, to pick-up the pace. They dented 2 walls moving a dresser, but we didn't complain, or get upset again because we understand these things can happen. At 2:30 I stopped the clock. I was told I owed $469.00, which included my $100 deposit. For some odd reason we were short cash but with all the craziness going on with the move, I didn't think twice of it, so I paid. I pulled my contract the next day to realize I overpaid $100.00. I figured they must've not applied the deposit. Here is a breakdown of what was charged....$149 truck fee, 4 hours on the clock @ $79 per hr = $465 - $100 deposit = $365. Easy math, right? I called the owner, Cameron first thing Monday morning. He confirmed a $100 was owed to me & said he would credit my card after the call. Two days go by no credit. I call the bank to see if anything posted, nothing was posted from the company, so I called again. Kelly was rude, cut me off & hung -up. The day goes by & still nothing. I was given the run-around all week with excuse after excuse. Finally this Cameron guy calls & tries to tell me the extra money I owe was for the packaging of my furniture, yet my contract says it's included. Once again they were trying to play games. He kept telling me the credit was applied & I would receive a confirmation text.2 more days go by, no text, no credit. I was a nice & patient customer. I made the movers job very easy, we were understanding of the late arrival, slow pace of working, & the issue with the money. TRUST ME, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I'm very disappointed in the treatment from the upper management and the girl Kelly who works there, her butt should be fired! You should never allow somebody to treat customers like that! Silverback moving has a lot of bad reviews. LOT'S of people reported sever damaged done to their furniture &  still waiting for a refund. I plan to notify everyone via social media about my experience so people are aware!
