Complaint Review: Simon Gift Gard

In December 2005 my daughter, still a minor, was given a Simon GiftCard labeled "Visa". She wanted to keep the credit card for a rainy day. Rainy day came in mid December 2007 before expiration date, the card had no funds. I did not pay attention until today that I found the card in her drawer and decided to see the balance. I found that the card if not used within 12 month Simon would charge an administrative fee of $2.50 for each month there after. Simon made out like a bandit! Received in their cash flow $30 (it is not much if one card but imagine approximately 1,000 a month) and made interest each day, charged for the giftcard at the time of issuing $2.

It is misleading when the Visa label is in a plastic card imitating a credit card and the rules are not Visa's but some other company.
