Got a brochure which stated they would charge my credit card $250 to renew my membership. I never heard of them, and certainly didn't have a membership.

They provided a number to call to cancell the transaction. I called, and talked to an offshore guy who tried to sell me a bargain membership. Finally convinced him that I wanted out.

Called the credit card folks - and they had indeed charged my card (but not $250) and subsequently cancelled the charge. This proves that they got my card number.

How did they get it? The expiration date had just changed in May - so this must have happened recently. In the last 6 weeks I have only gone to established vendors like Amazon.

Should I e-mail the 4 or 5 vendors? Should I change the card? I can understand fly by night vendors selling card numbers, but not the type of folks I deal with.
