As a self-employed person, I was looking for affordable healthcare insurance.  I was a healthy individual but too young for Medicare.  Up until Jan 2018, I was able to afford a "catastrophic" health care plan with Humana.  Now, the major medical insurance carriers appear to no longer cover individuals without it being a high premium that complied with Obamacare/AHA.  In my state of TN, the healthcare.gov marketplace was not affordable for a self-employed person so I was on a mission to find something similar to what I had had for years before Obamacare changed everything.  Having dealt with the alternative einsurance online help and getting harassed with phone calls day and night I was leery of doing anything more online or signing up with anything online unless I could get I got a good recommendation to check them out. I saw a TV commercial if you were healthy and too young for Medicare to call 800.280.1247 for health insurance helpline.

I was at my wits end trying to find a plan I would be comfortable with.  I finally called the number.  I got connected to an "agent".  Before we got started I asked him what company the insurance was with and he indicated SIMPLE HEALTH.  While he took the typical info regarding my age and health,  I googled Simple health and found they had a C- BBB rating so my warning flags were up and complaints were about coverage not being what rep had told them. He gave me a reasonable quote after indicating some benefits of the PPO plan. Then I asked him to email me info about the plan he was recommending.

He went into a spill about they were not like other insurance companies who send out packages and brochures and that was one of the reasons why the insurance had lower premiums. I indicated that I don't signup for anything without reviewing it first.  He then said let me take your credit card info then he would be allowed to send some info.  I said no way and hung up.  I was not asked my phone number and would not have given it if they had, they may have had caller ID. So I'm hoping that was the end of that.  Just wanted to warn other people before they get involved.  For me, Just too many warning signs to go further with this company.  Still searching for the holy grail of affordable insurance for someone who does not take meds and rarely goes to the Dr but wants some insurance in the event of a catastrophic health event.
