I bought into a simple mobile telephone plan for my short holiday in new york last xmas.I made it clear to the retailer that i just needed to make more of international calls to nigeria and he should advice which plan will be suitable for my purpose.
They mentioned to me that it will only cost me $10.this made sense to me.i confirm this by asking them if they were sure this is all what i will pay for this service. they reiterated it and they gave me a form to sign which i was told it was a mere formality.
I was surprised when they insisted that i pay with my master card debit card as against cash.I paid through my card 'cos i thot this was the practice since i was a foreigner.
To my utmost disgust, i was debited $499.99.This i complained and they explained that it was contained in a clause in the documents i signed that i am entitled to the funds only if i cancel my plan within a specified period which i adhered to.
They informed me that a refund will be possible within 30-180days as also contained in the document i signed.very ridiculous.I accepted my fate cos i felt i have been played going by the document i signed.
This money was supposed to take care of my expenses in america during this period.I was denied this and it cost me much more than $499.99.
However i have been patient enough to wait 180days after several plea to expedite this refund though email to no avail.up till now i havent gotten a refund.Simple mobile corporate head office in miami couldnt help me to this effect after many calls and mails sent to no avail.i am so very disappointed 'cos this is coming from america where it is ajudged the most transparenty in all dealings.I have traveled wide and i have never experienced this fraud!
