Complaint Review: Simply Moving

I received a quote from Tom McJilton at Simply Moving to move my 3 bedroom house. The estimate was $385.00. While I knew this was probably a little low, I had no idea what I was in for. I told Tom that I had a 3 bedroom house with less than 50 boxes to move. His quote was for 3 men and 1 truck. The hourly rate on the contract was $70.00. When they showed up, they had 4 men and a SMALL truck. So they raised the hourly rate to $90.00 telling me it would get done twice as fast with 4 men. Then they start adding on packing, stairs etc. They ended up charging me $1400 and wouldn't take any mirrors, tv's or boxes!!! They were taking the following: 1 dining room table with six chairs, 1 couch, 1 loveseat, two end tables, 1 entertainment center. 2 bed sets, 1 king mattress, 2 dressers, 2 chests. Plus, they told me it would take 4 men SEVEN hours to move these things! Then I came back and surprised them and found all 4 of them sitting outside smoking cigarettes! That is what you get moved for $1400 with this company!! Tom McJilton is a complete scam artist and scum of the earth! Don't ever hire this company!!!
