My husband responded to a TV commercial one Saturday early morning promotting a Singer Lazer Storm vacuum cleaner. He got on the phone and spoke to an automatic ordering machine. He used the check and entered the order as requested. When he hung up he realized he did not get the confirmation and that the order did not include the steamer as promise on TV. The next morning he saw the commercial again and decided to reorder since he thought the first one did not go through. Boy how I had wished I had stopped him at this point! But I did not and he went on with the order and he got one girl on the phone and almost completed the order when she wanted his email address. My husband handed me the phone and wanted me to give my email address to her. I talked to her and the girl seemed pretty ignorant and stupid because she could not get the address right. Then I handed out the phone back to my husband and he continued the question about the order and inquired about the steamer. Before he got an answer and the confirmation, she hung up on him. When he tried to call back, this time there was only a voice mail. I immediately felt that something was very wrong. My husband said it would be all right because he thought it would probably have not worked because she did not finished our order. Obviously he was wrong. I got so mad and tried to cancel the order over the phone but in vain-hundreds of times, figuratively speaking. I tried to write emails as they suggested on the phone too, but no response. They seemed to ignore that. Oh well, I tried to stop the payment and contacted my bank but too late, they already got the money. You know how much they deducted from our bank? $313.70. So how much did they charge the cleaners if one cost only $59.00 plus S+H $14.00 and plus tax? And $313.70 is 4 x the price of the vacuum cleaner plus shipping plus tax so to speak. Even worse they did not leave a phone number like other prestigeous companies when they charged your account for items you bought. So tracking them is impossible because they still did not answer the phone. To make the matter worse, they have not shipped our vacuum cleaners yet(or will they?) so we could refuse them. It has been over a month and I keep trying to contact them and hoping one day they will respond to my calls. By the way, I also wrote a letter of complaint (by a certified mail) to the address they gave us. You know already, they have never replied and may never will. So I agree that this all is a planned scheme. They got our money and they seem to win, temporarily, because I will try every effort to sue this company and make them pay. Does anybody know what we could do and give us an input without involving lawyers and other unreliable sources? We have had enough of this already and are ready for a revenge big time.

WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO GOT SCAMMED!!!

We are glad you got your vaccum cleaner and be happy with them. Just because you got lucky does not mean you will never be scammed. I got this website because I also read a lot of complaints about this company. I don't belive it was a computer glitch. We consumers should protect and help each other, not to blame. To err is human. I hope you always get lucky.

Maybe You Got Scammed, But I Didn't

I bought the Wind Storm off of the television and it works great. I received it within 2 week and paid about $100. I also received free cleaning products. It is terrible that you got scammed, but did you ever think that it was a computer glitch. No need to knock the company. If you are worried about fraud, why would you give out your number over the phone?? Especially to an automated machine. Then, the stupidity to call back a second time!!

I just want people to know that it is a great product. Just because you had a bad experience does not mean that that will happen to everyone. You take a chance everytime you order something over the phone or the internet. Bad things will sometimes happen.

Singer Lazer Storm/Windstorm in New York ; Persistence paid off Persistance paid off

I would like to thank this Rif Off Report Website for the information you gave us to take action against the company in order to get our money back.

In short, after three months of battling the Windstorm company, finally our effort paid off. As suggested we started sending emails to Windstorm company in New york. They responded and We followed up by calling their office. It took us several times of calling and checking before they processed the refund. We also wrote to the attorney General office in New york and gave them all the document necessary for their reference (we think the office did help out and we got my money back). On 02/26/06 we made the last call to remind them about the refund of $313.70, and they told us they just mailed us a check. Yesterday we got the check and we can finally relax. Thank you again for the tips and we hope whoever has had the same problem like we did would also get the good result by reading my report. Just be persistent and take the steps I took: first send them email at response@stormvac.com then call them when they reply (their new # (800) 974-8590). If they don't take your calls seriously, write to the attorney general in New York and send the office all documents you have. Don't forget to call the company religiously till they take action. So good luck for those who are still waiting for their money.
