Auto-renewed services on a nonexistent credit card. Account was supposed to be canceled. While frustrating, morally wrong and unethical in its own right, the real issue here is in the customer service:

They play that game that AOL did back in the late 90s where they make it so inconvenient (a.k.a. nearly impossible) to cancel that they seem to almost rely on this for revenue. Try saying you want to cancel your account and this is what happens:

I was transferred, then disconnected.

Called back. Transferred, put on hold for 56 minutes (timed on a stopwatch) then disconnected.

Called back. Transferred, where the gentleman wouldn't stop pitching products and packages (which were previously unavailable or nonexistent - shocking that they're available all of a sudden). When I said I just wanted to cancel, he hung up. DISCONNECTED AGAIN.

Now, this is NOT my cell phone issue or some other connection issue. They are hanging up. It's an old tactic and I cannot believe that companies like this (or Vonage, whom I'll be writing about shortly) still do this garbage.

Something needs to change. There are far too many companies treating customers like we're worthless pawns. I've had some really, really bad service issues before, but nothing like this. I've never been obviously and intentionally disconnected so many times before by asking one simple request - can I cancel my service?

I won't even get into the service reps' ability to speak and comprehend English. That's an entirely different, disgusting issue.
