Skechers Skecher's Shape Ups don't work- cause injuries, Internet
Originally touted as having the ability to help firm butts and thighs, Skechers Shape Ups helped them make astronomical profits in 2010 (More than 1 billion dollars!). But according to this website those original claims had no scientific basis. In fact the chiropractor who endorsed the favorable results from Skechers was married to a Skechers executive- something they hid.
Kim Kardashian isn't even a spokesperson for the company anymore. Additionally many doctors and podiatrists have expressed concern about how dangerous the shoes are due to the instability they cause. When tested in independent studies there was no evidence that Skechers shoes provided any superior cardiovascular or weight loss benefits.
Here is the FTC's original 40 million dollar class action lawsuit where buyers of the shoe can get a refund, up to $40 each pair they purchased. Having the receipt or shoes will be helpful but it is not necessary. They are no longer allowed to make claims about the shoe's ability to promote weight loss and tone muscles.
