My name is Clay Goodman.  I purchased a boat from Ski Dock  for nearly 73k and have had a horrible experience.

As a professional pilot I am aware of the kind of maintenance boats require.  I sought to purchase a boat that came with a manufacturer's warranty and purchased an additional extended warranty to provide coverage for costly repairs after the expiration of the manufacturer's warranty.  I experienced a couple of issues with the boat that were covered under the manufacturer's warranty.  Those issues were not major but were nevertheless handled under warranty.  Then, to my utter disappointment, the engine of my boat failed.  I felt glad that I had gone through the trouble and expense of purchasing the two warranties.

However, when the dealer inspected the boat and determined that the damage required expensive work to repair or replace internal parts they began playing a game of hot potato with me.  It is important to note that this was not mentioned to me for prior service that was ostensibly done under warranty.  First, the manufacturer declined to cover the damage pointing out that the transfer of warranty had not been signed within 30 days of my purchase of the boat.  I asked when that should have been signed and I was told that it should have been signed upon transfer of ownership - the sale.  The transfer of ownership occurred at the dealership and they did not give me that transfer of warranty to sign at the time I bought the boat.  Next, the extended warranty provider told me that they would not cover the damage either since their coverage only begins when the manufacturer's warranty should have expired.  Now I owe the dealership, that completely dropped the ball, for the cost of diagnosis and I have no boat.  They are even threatening to charge for storage if I don't agree to let them repair the boat and take another bite out of my wallet.  I cannot even pick up my broken boat without spending more money.  I spent 73k and took every precaution to protect myself and in spite of that I am still out my money and my boat.  It seems like the only ones to get paid is the dealership.  If they had handled the documents of purchase and transfer properly, this would not be a problem now.
