When you apply for coverage with SkiSafe they ask you to estimate the value of your boat and trailer.  I did this and it was accepted by them.  It is a 1994 Bayliner - total value of the boat is $6k with the tower, stereo, etc. maybe more.  I split it with the trailer being $2k and the boat being $4k.  I received a policy stating they had accepted these amounts and this is the amount that I was charged for premium (the beware part).

I had a fire on my trailer and the axle, both wheels, brakes and tires had to be replaced and the cost was $2100.  After providing all kinds of pictures and information.  I was told my trailer was worth $410 and not even enough to cover the deductible.  BUT I was charged for the $2k estimate.

So, SkiSafe is bilking thousands of people out of  premium dollars which they don't find out about unless they  make a claim and they come back and low ball you and tell you your boat or trailer is not worth what they said they would insure it for.  So I did not get anything paid on the claim ($2k would have covered what I had to pay to get my boat back on the water).   I was not able to find a comparable trailer on the market for under $1500 (newer yes - but I can't tow the boat without a trailer) but was told the trailer was worth $410.  I have asked for an adjustment on the premium I paid.

If you read other reviews on line this is what they do.  Accept your estimate, charge you premium for it, and then tell you it isn't worth that when you file a claim.

I might as well not have insurance.
