Sky Angel was a provider of Christian television by means of a small satellite dish. In the infancy of the company, the founder Bob Johnson, promoted "Lifetime" subscriptions. If the subscriber purchased equipment and paid a one-time fee, they would receive Sky Angel for the life of the subscriber and/or their spouse.

As of March 31, 2008 Sky Angel will provide only IPTV, sending their signal through DSL. LIfetime subscribers have been told their membership was for the lifetime of the satellite, not the subscriber. Former lifetime subscribers will have to pay a monthly fee for what was promised us for free.

Many Sky Angel lifetime subscribers are elderly and this was their only television source. They do not have computers nor Internet access.

Sky Angel has apparently done some business reorganization in conjunction with dumping what could be as many as 100,000 lifetime subscribers. The company offers no consideration for what had been paid for and promised for "lifetime."

To continue receiving Sky Angel service, in addition to needing new equipment and paying a monthly fee, Sky Angel demands agreement to a one-sided agreement. If the subscriber cancels within 18 months, there is a $200 penalty. Sky Angel can raise rates and the sunscriber must either pay the new rate or the penalty.
