Sky Media Direct is a Scam!

During a period of my life when I was experiencing a great financial strain, I decided my best option was to except a job with a door-to-door sales company by the name of Sky Media Direct.  At the time I was willing to stay working for this shady establishment despite the fact that I often found it difficult to cope with the gross unprofessionalism which was displayed daily.

These types of direct marketing jobs find it very difficult to acquire new employees, and as a result, tend to use unethical strategies to attain them. The potential new hires were never even told they would be going door-to-door until they would be dropped off in a neighborhood and forced to follow a more experienced employee around for hours while they were supposedly being given on the job training.

Sky Media Direct would place adds in the newspaper or online which promise a management trainee position with a starting salary of between $400 to $600 a week, even though the job was purely commission and very few employees actually make this much (virtually nobody who is just starting out).  I would estimate that the real average is about $200 a week, but I can recall countless times when new hires or less aggressive salesman walked away with paychecks less than $50 for a weeks work.

The Sales Director, Grant Bowman, would make every effort to keep these employees, despite the fact that they were incapable of making a living with his company.  He relished the fact that he could pay these naive individuals about 20% of what they sold.  He would keep them on-board with empty promises of a huge payday that was just around the corner.  Because he does not pay them hourly, he could just sit back and collect the rest of the money while these employees were having their electricity turned off and being evicted from their apartments.  I have seen several peoples and financial lives fall apart because they stayed with this company far too long.

Employees often showed up while under the influence of alcohol and drugs, but due to the high turnover rate, these individuals were never fired, disciplined, or even reprimanded.  In fact, Bowman and the other managers used the party lifestyle to keep the employees from quitting.  If he allowed them to get completely trashed before and during work every day, maybe they will just think they are having a good time and not realize that they are throwing their lives away.  One regional manager in San Antonio was addicted to crack-cocaine and would actually smoke it with employees on the way to work to get them motivated to sell.  I know it sounds crazy, but you just cant make this stuff up.

The moral of the story is, if you ever find yourself being interviewed for a job at Sky Media Direct, or any door-to-door company like it, run far away.  Grant Bowman, or some other unethical snake just like him, is waiting to lie and take advantage of you
