AT THE SKYLINE CHILI IN BEECHMONT ACROSS FROM KROGER'S THERE IS A MANAGER NAMED BOB THAT CAME TO WORK THERE RIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING.

SINCE HE'S BEEN THERE HE HAS FIRED 3 PREGNANT WOMEN BECAUSE OF THERE PREGNANCIES. AT A TIME WHEN WOMEN NEED THERE MONEY THE MOST FOR BABY CLOTHES, BABY BED, MATERNITY CLOTHES, AND MORE. BOB THINKS THIS IS THE BEST TIME TO FIRE A PREGNANT WOMAN BECAUSE OF THIER PREGNANCY.

JUST TO TRY AND SAVE SKYLINE A FEW DOLLARS. HE DOESN'T CARE IF THESE WOMEN END UP ON THE STREET BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY THE BILLS. ALL HE CARES ABOUT IS SAVING SKYLINE A FEW DOLLARS.

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF WHAT HE HAS DONE. SINCE HE CAME THERE HE CUT EVERYBODIES HOURS HUGLY A FEW WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS TO WERE MOST THE PEOPLE THERE COULDN'T AFFORD CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR. I KNOW A FEW OF THE WOMEN THERE PERSONALLY AND EVERYTIME A SEEN THEM THEY WAS UPSET ABOUT NOT BEING ABBOTT TO AFFORD CHRISTMAS FOR THERE KIDS THIS YEAR.

THERE IS A 16 YEAR OLD BOY THAT WORKS THERE AND WHEN HE CAME TO WORK THERE THE MANGER AT THE TIME AGREED TO LET THE BOY HAVE EVERY SUNDAY OFF TO VISIT HIS DIEING GRANDMOTHER. BUT, AFTER BOB STARTED TO WORK THERE HE HAS MADE THE BOY WORK EVERY SUNDAY AND THE BOY HASN'T HAD A CHANCE TO SEE HIS DIEING GRANDMOTHER SINCE.

MANY OF EMPLOYEE'S AT SKYLINE CHILI IN BEECHMONT HAVE CONTACTED THE SKYLINE CHILLI CORP. OFFICE ABOUT BOB AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONCE. IF YOU'D LIKE TO CONTACT THE CORP. OFFICE TO GIVE YOUR OPINION THE PHONE NUMBER IS: 513-874-1188 OR YOU CAN CONTACT BOB AT SKYLINE 513-528-6611

A little editorializing if I may

I didn't say that you or your friend were lying, or that you were even wrong, I'm actually inclined to believe what you're saying because I know how restaurant employees are treated. I also know that second hand accounts of situations like this most often are not reliable sources of information, because the info has been "spun" not once but twice.

Here's the really unfortunate thing about this situation. If the management of this establishment wants to terminate each and every pregnant employee for no reason other than the fact that they are pregnant they are pretty much completely within their rights to do so. Restaurant employees, unless they are in a union, generally do not have contracts and are "at will" employees.

At-will employees can be terminated at any time, for any reason that is not a civil rights violation. Basically anything other than overt racial or gender discrimination is ok as far as the law is concerned.

This is a very unfortunate situation for the millions of people employed by the restaurant industry, most of whom are also underpaid and unbenefitted. Combine all of this with the very nature of restaurant work, which is simaltaneously stressful, unpleasant, degrading, exhausting and emotionally taxing. The result is bitter and amotivated employees, extremely high turnover rates, bad service and unsanitary conditions.

What is the alternative? Empowerment of entry level service sector employees through legislation and unionization. The federal government must take action to increase the ability of at-will employees to fight wrongful terminations. Unionization would ensure that employees are benefitted and, more importantly, contracted.

Unionization of restaurant employees has proven beneficial for both employees and the employers, the best example being Las Vegas. Thanks to unionization, restaurant work is actually good work in Las Vegas. The high level of service people have come to expect from dining establishments there is due to their ability to attract excellent employees.

Jerry, you would do the restaurant employee community a big service by focusing your anger where it can make a difference. Look in your phone book for legislators' adresses and write some letters. For more info on restaurant unionization, check out the H.E.R.E. Union website (sorry, don't know the adress off hand). Best of luck to you and your friend.

If they were fired for being pregnant, there is recourse

Pregnancy is considered a disability for which reasonable accomodation must be made. There is a small catch, however; this law only applies to businesses with a minimum number of employees (varies state to state, but in California is 15). Check with your state Department of Fair Employment and Housing and you can also file a complaint with the Federal Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC), though in most cases, the state will do this for you.

Good luck.

QUIT PUTTING YOUR FOOT IN YOUR MOUTH

I know exactly know I'm talking about. It's you that doesn't know what your talking about. I have spoke with many of people that work there. my friend was good friends with one of the Asst. Managers there. Even two of the Asst. managers there say that she was fired over her pregnancy.

So, before you go sticking your foot in your mouth again maybe you should try talking to the people that work there and find out the truth for yourself

I know exactly what I'm Talking about

I know exactly what I'm talking about. When my friend was fired she was fired by the asst. manager. When the Asst manager fired her she told her that she didn't want to fire her. That she was being forced to fire her by the Manager(bob). She also told her that she was a good employee and that she liked her but there was nothing that she could do about it.

Plus my friend wasn't the only pregant woman fired. There was 3 pregant women fired from there with in that month. These are not just story I was told by my friend. I always picked my friend up from work at night and when ever I went into there I heard alot of employee's there complaining about the manager(bob). My Friend is a good Worker and a good christian. My friend does not lie and she is not disgruntal about being fired from there. I'm the one that is mad and disgruntal about it. It pisses me off that there are people like bob in this world and there getting away things like this.

As far as I'm concerned Skyline Chili should be sued for this and if i had the money for a lawyer I'd give it to her. The only reason Skyline Chili is getting away with this is because her lack of money to do something about it. There are many of employee's there and including some management that would take her defence in a court of law.

What fact is alot of pregnant women get fired from there jobs because of there pregnances and almost all women know that there are employers that do this to pregnant woman.

I was talking to my friends mom that happens to be a manager in a office here in cincinnati and she told about a story where she was forced to fired a pregnant by her boss because the woman was pregnant.

There are two sides to every story, you're only getting one Jerry.

Jerry, first off, please turn the caps off in future rebuttals, it seems like you're yelling at everybody and it's hard to read!

Second, the information that you have is what they would call "hearsay" in a courtroom. Your friend was terminated from her job, justly or unjustly, and was angered by it (understandably so, nobody likes to get fired). Keep in mind that you are only getting one half of the story.

Without any first hand involvement, you can't really speak as to the reality of the situation because you are viewing it through the eyes of an entirely biased source who may be giving you a very skewed account.

EITHER DIFF. SKYLINE CHILI OR YOUR A LIAR

#14Consumer Comment

IF THIS IS TRUE THIS PERSON MUST WORK FOR A DIFFERENT SKYLINE CHILLI THAT IS UNDER DIFFERENT MANAGEMENT AND PROBABLY DIFFERENT OWERSHIP. IF THIS PERSON WORKS FOR THE SAME SKYLINE CHILI MY FRIEND WORKED AT THEN SHE IS A LIAR. IF THIS PERSON IS AT THE SAME SKYLINE CHILI IT IS PROBABLY THE MANAGER THAT IS MAKING UP THAT REBUTTAL TO KEEP HIM SELF FROM LOOKING BAD.

I am currently an emploee at Skyline Chili, I have been employed there since June of 2002. I would like to personably make a comment on this matter.

I recently gave birth to my 4 month old son. During the time of my pregnancy I was employed at skyline, never once was I mistreated. If anything I was treated a lot better than most employers would do. The managers there acted as if they cared about the health of me and my son. And I sincerly believe they meant everything.

We currently have another employee there that is pregnant. She was also hired prgnant just like I was. We all take caution in what she does and we also care about the health of her and her baby.

For someone to say they were mistreated and abused there is abosolutely absurd!!! Where this person got their information is beyond me but it is completely false.

The only termination we do there is if the business feels that the person is no longer a good employee. So for whoever filed this report, you need to sit back and realize maybe it is your work ethics that got you fired.
