I have been victimized by Skype. On Sunday August 8,2010 i noticed three withdrawls from my checking account from skype.

All charges where within a 3 hour period. One charge was for $25.00 USD, One for 33.22 euros, and one for 39.97 GBP.

I immediately logged into my Skype account and tried to cancel Skype. There is no way to cancel accounts with out emailing Skype.

I emailed Skype and explained the problem and requested they cancel any skype accounts in my name and refund the three fraudulent charges. They will not refund the charges as they claim it is my fault. I have emailed skype four times and they refuse to refund my money. Now I am also working with my bank to get charges reversed and have canceled the credit card that Skype has on  file.

Beware of this company It appears that i am not the only person to be victimized by Skype. I am pasting my last email response from skype with their refusal to refund my money for the fourth time.

Unfortunately, Skype is unable to refund any money that may have been lost because of this incident. We urge you to check that your PCs security systems are running properly and that they are up to date. In order to prohibit these incidents, Skype strongly advises you to regularly update your PC's security software (e.g. firewall, antivirus etc.) as it is possible that a Trojan/Key logger type of program could be installed on your computer which sends collected info from your computer to a third party who uses this information abusively.

Also be aware of different 'phishing' sites, or Skype chat messages from strangers that contain links or require you to reveal personal information (passwords, credit card numbers etc.) If you use Skype on a public computer, then don't forget to sign out of your Skype account when you have finished using it.
