I have been back and forth with Choice Hotels in regards to one of the Hotels, a.k.a The Sleep Inn. They supposely offer a 100% satisfaction if your problem is not solve in a timely mannner. Well, let me tell you:
One August 7, 2008 my wife, 4 year old daughter, and 3 year old son were excited about heading to Parris Island to spend some time with our 19 year old, recently grad US MARINE, but unfortunately we had to stay at a Sleep Inn.
The first night was fine. We got there at about 6pm, washed up, watched some tv, went to bed and woke up the next morning for Family day at Parris Island. When we returned to the Hotel on August 8, 2008 at approximately 430pm a storm hit the town. We understand this happens. I believe there were tornato warnings and of course blackouts. The Sleep Inn did not have electricity from 5pm- 1am.
Long story short; My kids could not sleep, the hallways were dark and very dangerous to walk, we could not walk around the room, the window was open and all kind of bugs came in, my children were dripping in sweat. To summarize all; IT WAS BAD.
The bottom line, They offer a 100% satisfaction that they do not keep. Their generator was not working and the reason for those back up generators not working is one thing; NO MAINTENANCE.
The night of the problem I call the front desk and the so called manager Russ said all of town was having problems. My wife and I callled a few Hotels and they all said they were up and running. When we look out the window all the lights down the streets were on.
THEY DO NOT KEEP THEIR WORD, IF YOU HAVE ARE A PROUD FATHER, MOTHER, SON, DAUGHTER, UNCLE, FRIEND, ETC.. and you are on your way to Parris Island to spend time with your Marine; STAY AWAY FROM THE SLEEP INN in Beaufort SC.

How is this a rip off?

'The hotel has absolutely no control over loss of power due to storms.'

No control over what power?

'It is unreasonable to expect them to simply turn the power back on at your beck and call. If the power is out, it is OUT.'

Wrong! If they hadn't failed to keep the generator operable, the power would not have been OUT. What is this 'beck and call' garbage? don't know everybody at the motel was out of power. Not just the Author! Irrelevant, Sarcastic and stupid statement!

'Perhaps you should take up your complaint with the electric company instead.'

Wrong! The electric company does not maintain private generators!

Congratulations Peter. Another meaningless, irrelevant and useless post!
