Purchased two beds (one for my wife and I and the other for her elderly parents) from the Sleepinergy booth at the Anaheim Home Show in May, 2008. That's where the rip-off began.I wrote them a check for $8,637.00 which they cashed immediately. When the first bed arrived the next week it was not even close to the home show display. It was a hard mattress with malfunctioning remotes and no warranty. It was the most uncomfortable mattress we had ever experienced. Realizing this, I immediately gave notice of cancellation of both beds that same day.

After leaving several messages at their office and the salesperson's phone, Tim Holleman (Sleepinergy sales rep from convention center) called back the next day (after the bed was delivered). He said the beds at the home show were broken in or may have been made out of different materials. Realizing that he was not cooperative, and that we had been victims to bait and switch tactics, we have requested a refund and documented everything. To date, we have not received any refund at all of our $8,637.00. We were duped!

I've tried numerous attempts to get a refund, particularly for my wife's parent's bed, which was never even delivered, all to no avail. George Klause, who identified himself as the owner, had initially agreed to a refund for my parents bed, but has not made good on his promise. Numerous telephone calls to their office in Downey all go unanswered. In fact, no one has ever answered the phone when calling their office at (562) 940-8141, only a recording on an answering machine.

On June 27, 2008 I went to their supposed showroom (headquarters) in Downey, CA and found they were located in an old metal building in an industrial area. There is a Sleepinergy sign on the locked door with no hours posted and a blacked out window. Looking through a crack in the window, all I could see was a dirty, empty room with telephone and one Sleepingy bed. It gave me a sick feeling. This is a far cry from the image that their sales rep Tim had described at the Anaheim Home Show. He painted a picture of a reputable company with a nice showroom.

I found that George Klause (of Laguna Niguel, CA) is the same person who was associated with Ergo-Pedic of Irvine, CA who has had several complaints about him on RipoffReport.com, where it is stated that 22 complaints have been filed against him with the Better Business Bureau.

I've consulted with an attorney to try and get our money back, but am told it will be difficult because Sleepinergy is not incorporated at they will be difficult to legally serve since there is no store. However, I have just found out where George Klause lives so serving at his Laguna Niguel (El Niguel Heights) home may be possible. Whether I can collect on a judgement is another matter.
