So the nice salesman comes to our house to discuss their service. We asked the salesman, what if we move how does this work since we are in a 5 year contract. He says to us oh the service/alarm goes with you with no charge. As long as you continue to fulfill your contract for the 5 years you have nothing to worry about.

We singed up for service on 1/07 and we are almost 3 years into the contract now.

We are moving within a month, and proceeded to contact Slomin's to inform them of the move and move of service to the new location.

We were told by customer service and their supervisor the following:

If you move you terminate your contract and must start a new contract for 5 years plus you have to pay a fee of $245.00.

We were never told this, nor does it state anywhere in the contract about moving.

I said but i am not terminating my service, I would like it transferred to a different location.

They said you can call it what you want transfer/default/terminate it all means that you are canceling your contract.

All we wanted to do was have our remainder of the contract/service moved to the new location. Now we are stuck and not sure what to do. We do not want to be locked into another 5 year contract because the home we are moving to will be rented and not sure how long we will stay. So ever time i move i have to get locked into a new 5 year contract or pay the over $1,000.

Again it does not state this in the contract. It's a scam if you ask me.

Before you decided to sign with them review the contract and get it in writing. That might not even help you. I would just not even do it.

I even asked them to take my alarm in my home and install it at the new home. They said they do not do that. I have a little over 2 years left on my contract why do i have to sign a new one. Why am i being forced to do this just because i am moving. It's not like i am breaking the contract i just want the service moved to a new location and to finish out my 2 years.
