I purchased a prefinished hardwood floor from Smart Carpet in 2014. 18 months later the floors finish began to wear off exposing the raw wood.  I contacted smart carpet who sent a representitive who agreed "This should not be happening"  He then sent out an inspector who wrote in his report that the floor is suffering from excessive wear.  I'm not sure what qualifies as excessive wear and no one has clarified that for me.  I purchased a residential product for my home.  I think it should last more than 18 months.

I filed a complaint with the the NJ BBB and somehow Smart Carpet had the claim transferred to the manufacturer (MOHAWK FLOORING located in Georgia) of the floor who did not respond.  The result:  Smart Carpet maintains an A rating with the BBB and yet can pass the buck and not take any responsibility in this case.  My case is then closed and I have to take it to court, which I am in the process of doing.

BEWARE OF SMART CARPET.  They do not stand behind the products that they sell.
