On January 24, 2006 I was charged $424.95 by NAPE (National Association of Private Enterprises. This was payment for inclusion in the Smart Choice Health Insurance Plan. The young lady on the phone advised me that my coverage would be over $1,000 per day if I were to be hospitalized.

I finally got the policy after 30 days and to my surprise it stated that I would only get a fraction of the $1000 if I were hospitalized. I called immediately and cancelled the policy and was given a claim number 5150 14.

I never received my reimbursement. They kept promising me that their accounting department was handling it and to be patient. I then contacted NAPE and they sent me a letter stating that they were verifying my membership and that they would notify me as quickly as possible as to the results. That was on February 22, 2006.

I later got a letter from NAPE telling me that they had cancelled its association with Smart Choice. That they had deposited $180,000 for member refunds and to contact Smart Choice directly and was given their Plantation address. I do not work and $424 is a huge amount of money. Please guide me as to what to do next. Thanks.
