Complaint Review: Smart Shoppers Savings Club

I signed up for the Smart Shopper Savings Club and came to regret it shortly thereafter. The information given so someone will sign up is very misleading.  It shows that the annual charge for the membership is $30.00 and there is a trial membership of 30 days. Then approximately 12 days later my credit card was credited for $70.00. It also had various other charges that I could not identify. 

When I started to call and find out what these charges were for I was quite surprised to find out that the membership actually cost $94.00 a year and I only had a 10 day trial period.  When I called to cancel, they said it was past my 10 day trial period even though I did not have my authorization code and PiN for their website until a couple days before. They would not return any of my money and thought they were doing me a favor by reducing the remainder of my bill  by 50%. The additional charges turned out to be magazine subscriptions which I did not sign up for, but got anyway. I had to call each of these magazine clubs separately to cancel the subscriptions that I never ordered in the first place.

I do not recommend this company to anyone!  Please do not get suckered into this ridiculous scam as I did.
