Approximately 3 PM on 4/20/2011, I was in Independence MO (Fazoli's), taking a break from moving.  When we were done with lunch we headed out to leave and "*" tried blowing into his interlock device to start the truck and it kept flashing back to ABRT.  We tried calling Gigers (# - who installed it) and got no answer.  We called Smart Start (the 1-800-880-3394 on
the device) and told them we were stranded because the device was defective.
(This is the 5th handset and 2nd under-the-dash unit installed in 3 months - all have been bad).  The male-person that answered at Smart Start the first time said we had to call Corporate.  He gave us a wrong number.  We called back and
spoke to a woman-person who gave us another number.  When we called that new # (800-747-8278), we were told that it was the weekend and there was nothing anyone could/would do.  I want to point out that before we got the interlock
device, we spoke to a woman sales person and asked straight up "Would it ever leave us stranded?"  She said "No".  She also told us that there would always be someone available when we called to help out on technical issues.  This turned
out to be a blatant lie.

We were told today that there was NOTHING ANYONE COULD DO. We were stranded over 100 miles from home.  This is NOT the first time we've been stranded!!!  (We had been stranded exactly 3 weeks after having it installed originally.  Stranded Five times so far, in 3 months.)  I have been told that the small business that installed the device (Gigers) lodged a complaint with Smart Start and got no where.  There have been numerous complaints so far.  IF people are going to be FORCED to use these interlock devices, and pay a lot of money for the "privilege", shouldn't the devices actually "work"?

I want to add that last Friday (4/22) this device "Violated" him as he was shutting the truck off after a two hour drive.  This was not the first Violation and the man has not been drinking.

No one is FORCED to use this Smart Start gizmo.  The convicted drunk may simply surrender his driver's license and USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION!!!

Problem solved.
