Back in June 2003, I was out of work. I went to an IT unemployment group meeting and was given the url for smartcertify. It sounded good, so I sent in my info and a few days later they called me. They showed me a slick demo with lots of links and pages. I thought it might be a good idea to get my MCAD and this looked like it would be helpful in that. I signed up for the courses, desperate and confused with being out of work.

After I agreed to pay the money and got my credentials for signing in, I started looking closer at the material and realized I made a mistake. Unfortunately, there wasn't the usual 3 day period in which to cancel a contract. It looked like the only way to get any of my money back was to take the tests and fail them. It's been over 2 years and I still kick myself for being so naive and stupid.

I learned a lesson the expensive, hard way. If anyone has started a class action lawsuit against these people, count me in. One day recently I was at home when they called to see how I was doing. I gave it to them over the phone, basically wishing I had never gone to that meeting way back when. If I wasn't so upset and confused with being out of work, I never would have contacted them. Luckily, my employer brought me back after being out for 5 months, which was really fantastic. But these people in Florida. Never, ever again.
