The moment I called SMC to activate my membership kit I was hussled by the representative into placing a minimum order and purchasing addtional flyers. When I told her, I was not interested in swapmeet or any other real location but rather only the internet, she responded by saying she couldn't help me. Then she continued that she would forward my name to Steve, who heads the internet department and he would call me. After that she still tried to convince me that I should place an order.

When Steve, the internet guy called me, I got the shock of a life-time. This quick talking, fast mouthed individual made me listen to a 7 minute tape by Karry Cox, manager of marketing, that I didn't understand at all. After the tape he forcefed me to sign up for $3800.00 nonetheless. When I told him that their hosting fees where high he became arrogant, rude and obnoxious. He told me than: "look, you got my number, if you change your mind, call me back!" and he hung up the phone on me. When I originally ordered my SMC kit I was told by the rep that the kit included a FREE website. All you get is a doorway page. Each time I called SMC to ask a question I was handled with ruthness.

My personal rep told me I should place a order first. I than decided to cancel my membership and returned everything registered and via ups. After numerous phonecalls, I finally got my refund, although they did withhold the shipping, which I think is wrong. SMC in only interested in you becoming a member and than placing orders with them. They have no interest in your success, nor do they really want you to have a website because it would mean that you would not place any upfront orders. SMC does not do what they say they do in their infomercial.

Hopefully you paid with a credit card. You can usually get all your costs back if you dispute your claim with your credit card company dispute department. Just let them know of the circumstances and why you didn't respond sooner. If you paid by check, you might be able to have this challenged via your bank as well, although your success potential will be less than paying via credit card.
