Complaint Review: Smiles Coffee

I received an e-mail from Smiles Coffee offering free coffee, a grinder and digital camera for $19.95 shipping and handling. I wanted a cheap digital camera so I thought I'd order -- and I am a coffee drinker.

I received the coffee (six very small packets) and the grinder. I called the company and asked why the camera wasn't included. I was told by their customer service (foreign accent) that the camera would be shipped with my first order ($35.00). I said that's not what the e-mail stated. The person said I could still received the camera but would be charged additional shipping and handling of either $6.95 or $9.95 (I forget which). I again protested saying that I'd already paid shipping and handling on the camera. The person again repeated I could get the camera for additional money. Like talking to the wall!

I told her that I didn't do business with companies like theirs and asked that the account be immediately cancelled. I did get a cancellation number and so far have only wasted $19.95. I will be watching my charge card statement.

Stay away from this company -- also I've tried two of the packets of coffee and it's no better than the beans I get at my local grocery store. I'll stick with Gevalia.
