Complaint Review: smiley Plumbing

On 6-5-12 my 81 year old mother contacted Smiley Plumbing based on an ad she found in her church newsletter. The ad read "Smile today or you don't pay" She paid!

Walt, the owner of the company, came to my mother's house because of broken shower faucet and cartridge replacement. Walt replaced the shower handle and cartridge in less than an hour. His bill was $349 for cartridge and $59 for the shower handle plus tax and a $25 discount. Total bill $401.17

The following day, I discovered through talking with my 81 year old mother, that she had called this company for repairs. When I found out the amount for the repair I was shocked.

 I looked up the parts on line and found that the cartridge at Home Depot was between $27-$40 and the handle was $10. I contacted Walt who ultimately offerred me a $50 refund which I refused because the refund didn't come close to the overages.

I contacted two other plumbers who said they thought he should have charged $200 or less. I filled a claim with the BBB but after 3 weeks they let me know they do not resove finacial disputes.

Don't use this company the owner takes advantage of people especailly elderly!
